Default Corsa Exhaust Question

I have been tossing the idea around for awhile now of getting a corsa exhaust setup for my truck. Problem is I dont know which package to order. My truck is an 06 4x4 1/2 Ton Crew Cab with the shorter box vortec max with the 6.0L. I believe it has the same frame as the 1/2 ton extended cab short box because if I park right next to my brothers truck (he has an extended cab) they are the exact same length. The difference in factory 5.3 exhaust and 6.0 exhaust in a 1/2 ton is the 5.3 has a Y into 1 pipe before it goes into the catback, and the factory 6.0 exhaust has two separate pipes that both go into a muffler and out into a Y after the muffler. I have been looking here: http://www.tbyrnemotorsports.com/truckcatalog.html I was thinking the version for the SS would work since they are awd and come with a 6.0 from the factory. Part numbers are: 14279 and 14289 Has anybody else ran into this dilemma before? I would hate to drop 900 bucks and order the wrong kit and be screwed and have to hack it up just to make it fit. Also, whats the difference between the sport and touring edition?
Thanks for the help,
Sam

Firstly, I wouldn't order from tbyrne right now. Check out the thread in the truck stop for more info about that. A call to Corsa might be in order, with your uniquie truck.

Corsa will give you no advise on the subject. They do not make a system for our trucks and recomend not using their product for it. I ordered a kit anyway for an EC 2500HD on eBay NIB for about 300 bucks shipped. Brought it to a muffler shop and had them weld the Corsa Y pipe just before the muffler to the factory dual pipes and the rest pretty well fell into place. added one hanger right behind the muffler and used the factory rear hanger. Worked out pretty well. I've got the Sport and find it a little raspy for my taste. Would get the touring if I did it over again, but I've got zero drone. Great kit IMO.

Not a perfect fit because of the angle, but I can always get that little Y pipe redone.

This is the hanger I had added behind the muffler

Thanks for the pics man, I looked on their site and they have the instructions and pictures of the system for the ss and it looks like it will work on my truck so thats probably what I will be ordering.

Cool, post up when you get it, I'd be interested to see if it works out w/o mods. I think the Muffler back will be fine, just seems eash model has a little different Y setup before the muffler. Good luck, even if it needs modding, I'm sure it'll be minor.

Edit, when I first read your post I thought you had a 1500HD like me, sorry, my speed reading skills must be slipping. lol I would think that the SS kit would slide right in.

I notice you have headers..I would talk to Corsa about ordering the sport for a 5.3l...I have an SS as you can see and run LT's w/o cats and a Corsa Sport out of a 5.3l. I went with that because the headers would bolt right up to a 5.3l exhausr with out any fab work..Just a thought.

I have an '02 K2500HD ECSB with the 6.0 and installed Corsa's catback single pipe exhaust. I bought it off Ebay for $290 last summer from a company that was clearing out old stock. It bolted up perfectly. Used the stock hangers too. Corsa didn't list a kit for the '02 because GM used two different designs but their kit for the '03 fit my truck. (my truck must've had the later design)

I bought the Touring version and am pleased with it. It's loud when I get on it but quiet as stock when cruising or light throttle. All components are T-409 stainless. I recommend it but only if you don't have to pay MSRP.

By the way, the stock dual in/dual out muffler really isn't. The second pipe (at least on the output side) leads to a blind resonance chamber. Yeah, I was surprised too.

Good luck with your search.

Nick

Well just so you guys know the SS kit does NOT work on a 1/2 ton crew cab extra short box with the vortec max package. I tried to put it on monday and it would have worked fine if my truck was an extended cab. The pipe after the Y tries to go up where the bed is on the extended cab but on my truck the cabs there so its lower and will not work. So looks like I will be posting this kit up for sale afterwhile. Just figured I would post up in case somebody else tries this or has a question on it.

which kit did you buy? Tour/Sport? So your not going to make modifications to get it to fit. I might be interested. I don't mind making mods if the price is right.
