I took mine off very slowly too, that is until it was almost off, then went into the air on a geyser of boiling hot water lol.

The coolant is just above the halfway mark by about 1/4" before start-up, When I start it up it drops to where everything is almost level about 1/3 up the coolant tank maybe a little less. If I rev it, it sucks all the coolant down that one side of the tank where the hose is connected. Should add some more distilled water until it doesn't suck all off it down when reving it? Could that possibly add some air when it does that? I've been out there for over an hour squeezing the **** out of the hose and letting it cool off, back and forth. I did get some small air bubbles out. It's still getting to 200*....

What is a pressure tester? How much, where at, & how does it work? I've tried getting this air out a total of 3 hours over the weekend by squeezing the hose and I even let it idle for 30 minutes this morning with the top off. This **** is driving me crazy!

Just a thought. I don't think you are going to see much lower than stock temps even with the 160 stat. Your stock fan clutch doesn't know that you are trying to run the truck cooler. The clutch is set up for factory operating temps. This also explains why you see cooler temps on the freeway than stop & go or idling around.

Now that all assumes you don't have electric fans. If they are electric then you need to adjust your on-off settings for lower temps.

I'm assuming that the truck isn't actually overheating but its just not running as cool as you expected. Also even though you have a 160 stat most on here will tell you that your factory gauge is going to show it running in the 180-185 range. The factory gauges are not very accurate.
