I would say the first 2 tanks it was broken in, so within 500-600 miles when it tightened up. I could tell a little bit of a difference after 150 or so, but more as I went on with it.

Here's another example .. With the stock verter in there, I could get up to 15 without any throttle by the tiem I got to the end of my street. With the new one in there, it will only get up to about 7. It's hard to explain, but it's kinda like revving it up higher before you let out on the clutch in a standard.

The only thing that can be bothersome about a Yank is that the truck will roll backwards on a steep grade. The YankTT 3000 is so well dialed in to our trucks that I would reccomend one to almost anyone.A good converter is probably the best single performance mod you can make, but a bad converter can be a nightmare, stick with the Yank.

go for the yank 3000. i had the same questions as you guys did last year. i am happy with it. wish i didn't have stock tires though. traction can be a big issue. no traction = TC useless

if you never done the install before, might want to have someone do it for ya.

mine tows fine too.

I think it is time for me to chime in! I have had these exact same questions and concerns, and all of them have been answered. Yanks TT3000 is my next mod, just need the funds now! One question about the install? Does the transmission have to come all the way out from under the truck, or is it something I can just slide the trans back a little to put in? Planning on doing in the drive way! Will the TT3000 work with just servos?

Get some ramps and a good set of jack stands then. If you remove all the wires and stuff, I would assume it could move far enough back to be done, but it is really easier to drop it, swap it out, then raise it back up in place.

When I first put my TT3000 in, I didn't like it to much. I thought it was way to loose and a little to much for me. After getting some miles on it, it's just right. I still think the TT2600 should be stock for these trucks. It really makes it feel good.

The biggest problem I ran into was dropping the tranny. The top bolt on the drivers side is a real PITA. It also has a nut on the top of the stud that holds a bracket for fuel lines on. I got the stud through the fuel line retainer too, so the nut stayted off. It just kinda happened that way. Other than that ... having the right equipment and enough fluid was the kicker too.

I'd do it again if I had to. I don't think it's worth the 150-200 to have it done, but that's just me.

If you have a buddy to help the install goes pretty smooth. I got my truck high enough in the air to drop the tranny, and push it back enough to pull the stock one off the flywheel and install the TT3000 in its place. Having my brother in law there helping me out made it go that much better. I wouldn't even think about paying to have this done. It's a pretty easy install and as long as you have a ton of extentions and a helping hand you could have it done pretty quickly.
