If the converter was jammed during the install you would have known it instantly.I think the converter failed and may have damaged the trans. Was there a shift kit installed at the same time? a vette servo? or billet servo?

Re: converter / tranny / dif issues . need input for the night.

I put a Precision converter in my old Stang on a Sunday and the following Thursday I had the same symptoms you are describing. Ended up being the forward clutches in the tranny were smoked. The tranny shop said they were probably worn pretty bad and then when the extra stresses of the stall converter came along it finished it off. I had the tranny rebuilt and beefed and never had any more trouble. This is why I am going to freshen the tranny in my truck before getting a converter. You can trash a new converter by trashing the tranny and that would suck.

well, here's one other update before i hopefully get it towed to the shop today, last night me and a good friend(on the forum to) were gonna back it up on a trailer and take it away,
i got in the truck and put it in N and then we start pushing, but it wouldent budge a inch, it would go foward, so we jacked it up and tryed the dif and it was ok, being that my past 3 trucks never had a trany failure and i even though if they failed it would still move, why is it locked? is the trans toast?

no other item were installed during the time. just converter

L-eater- what kind of cost did you incur on the mustang?

i still got warranty, maybe i will put back to stock and see what happens.

Sounds like your shift linkage could be off one detent. It happens a lot with tranny/converter swaps. Try putting your gear selector in a different position and see if it makes a difference. Neutral could be reverse and drive could be neutral. I've seen it happen many times before. Check this ASAP. It's easy to fix by the way.

well i will have to wait to go home, i also have the shaft disconnected..

but let me ask you this patickg, why is it if i put it in R and rev it hard it will "catch" and then try to move? could the linkage try and move byitself? and will it move out of wack two days later?

hope thats it though.

oh yea, like i said in the previous post, i aint to mechanically smart, could you explain how to do it

Re: converter / tranny / dif issues . need input for the night.

If your linkage is off 1/2 a detent, it could try to catch with enough rpms. The gear selector works the valve body, it's not electronic. Because of this, you could be cracking the drive port oriface enough to move the truck with some revs. It's not entirely an on/off function like the pcm commands. The gear selector is all manual. Screw up the detents and you will screw up the function of your tranny (temporarily). Check it carefully when you get home, then check and double check your fluid with your motor running and your tranny warm. Low fluid level will also give you the symptoms you've described.

Re: converter / tranny / dif issues . need input for the night.

Daniel, Hey man i talked to johhny, he said he talked to a tranny guy and what happens in this cases is that most likely your one way clutches or the linkage on your tranny broke. it usually happens when you install a big stall and do not take off the shift firmness in your hypertech. that is why hypertech is only doing shift firmness to 50% on new programs. anyways johnny said all he can do is take off your tranny and take it to a tranny place which will cost more than likely $1000.0 or put the original stall and try to warranty it it is up to you either way you will have to pay for labor of stall. or 1k for tranny. call me dude.

I know this may sound stupid, but is your emergency/parking brake on?
