Picked up another LS1 for the collection on friday <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
2002 5.3 Silverado Ext. Cab Shortbox
It's primarily my tow vehicle for the Hawk, and real foul weather driver. I do daily drive the car most of the time, but a long trip to the track is better off done on the trailer.
I'm already looking at headers and exhaust for the truck, but a coverter would be nice too <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Looks like most are going 3000 or so, but the question is how much will i effect things for towing?
Am i asking for trouble w/ a higher stall and the trailer? Should i go lower on the stall?
Already have the trans cooler, but will go larger if the converter goes in
Any input??

well, yank SAYS that their converters retain the factory towing characteristics (excluding the 3200 stall converter). I dont have any experience with them but they do at least SAY it retains stock towing capacity.

I think Jason98TA, towed his car with a 3200 stall afer they did the 6.0 swap. I am planning a Yank 3000 and I tow a 6000# travel trailer. I think you will be fine with a 3000. Like really slow truck said the 3200+ does drop your factory towing capacity to 4500# and less the more stall you add. Look up Patrick G and tell him about it.

well then <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Sounds good to me
How's the drivabilty on say a 3000?
I'm coming from the M6 relm in the car, and my last truck was a big POS <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
My version of acceptable is different however <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Don't worry about a torque converter. Just modify your INCON for your truck. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Plenty of torque. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
