Default converter swap question

i know the TB converter will fit in our trucks. but will a converter from the truck be ok behind the I6 of a TB? if so how would it act? would the TB drive the same? reason i am thinking about this is because i have a TB and was wondering if i could just swap them out.

I'm just guessing here but i would think the tighter stall of the truck converter would hurt perfomance/drivablility of the I6 on the trailblazer. Mainly when accell from a stop, may want to bog the engine some?? Could also run into lockup problems too in O/D?? Just a thought, since no one has done this it's really hard to say what would happen.

Hotrodders for years have used converters from 6 or 4 cylinders models to boost performance. The Trailblazer converter has a higher stall from the factory to launch the relatively heavy truck with the smaller displacement I6 motor. You should have absolutly no problems running the Trailblazer converter as it weighs close to what your truck weighs and uses the exact same transmission.

Whitt, what about the factory truck converter with the lower stall, how would that behave behind the I6. would it make the engine work harder to take off?

It would stall lower making it sluggish off the start.Converters from low performance engine/chassis combinations provided the beginings of the proformance converter industry back in the 1960s and still provide most of the parts they use today.Very few of the converter manufactures build their own parts they almost all use factory cores.

Hey goshawk can you or anybody else tell what a converter is by # ?
I haven't forgotten you,but I have mixed several converters and I don't want to give you a stock one by mistake. Too much work involved for that.
I have two that are marked the same (my stock one and Whitts stock one I think) and one marked TLBX 2420. I think the last one was rebuilt by BTE and stalled to 2500 in my truck. But... I'm not sure. That's why I haven't already shipped it to you. It was the second attempt at a 2800 at BTE (the first vibrated a little) it is the same size and color as stock but I don't remember another stock converter at our shop.
TLBX 2420
7276 in larger #'s ?????????

thanks for the input whitt.

Jim, i was just curious to see what would happen if a person was to swap the converters around. i am still waiting on you. and as i have said before, i am in no hurry.

i don't know the numbers. if i told you the answer about the numbers i would be lying. lol. i would say contact BTE and see if they can give you some idea how to identify the one you are gonna send my way. i am sure they marked it somehow so they can ID it themselves.
