Alright its decision making time and I need help. Its between a STS turbo,Inercooled Radix,or Kenne Bell supercharger. Im looking to pickup over 100hp and just dont know what to do. I currently dont have any mods except exhaust and thats it really havent had the truck all that long this will be first major mod but most expensive and want to get it out of the way. I love the sound of a supercharger and the way it feels and response but on the other hand the STS is a lil cheaper and makes about the same power I would pickup with a supercharger but at a little less boost. Just need some help and guideance on what to do. Hopefully some people with both will chime in and help me make up my mind.
Thanks,
Kyle

Get the turbo. You will love it. I have one on my truck and it will fly. Pulls loads extremely well to. I went from running 9.8 1/8 mile to 8.6. Thats with only 5lbs of boost. It runs really good as a daily driver too.

I agree. I also have the STS kit. My truck is big. 02 crew cab 4x4 with 4" lift 33's. I can smoke em in 2nd gear at 30 mph when the boost hits and I can tow my tow hauler fully loaded up some serious grades and still get better gas milage than before.
Truth is, I had a lot of troubles during the install. I guess I was the unlucky one. But Rick at STS, Rick at Synergy and Allen at Nelson Performance have all been awsomne. These guys have bent over backwards to make things right for me. I recommend this kit and the Nelson tune to everyone.
Just my 2 cents!!!

I think it dependson what your looking to do with your truck; expected times, looks, future mods, etc....
If you want super low times and be one of the fastest EC's out there like Parish with his RC then I would say STS...
If you want to get your truck moving but want to lower/slam it and put some effort/money into your looks as well then I would go the supercharger route... From what I understand about the STS kit, everything is mounted underneath the truck, which means less ground clearance for a lower/slam job...
If you do go the supercharger route I personally suggest (which most people on this board will disagree with me on but oh well) the Kenne Bell setup, with the stipulation that you wait only because they are supposed to be coming out with an intercooled kit for our trucks. If you look on this board, Superchargedchevy04 has an EC w/ a 5.3 and he gained 1.8 seconds with the Ken Bell pushin 6 lbs of boost, gibson exhaust and a Dyno tune all of this being non intercooled goin from a 16.0 to a 14.2 on a 2.1 60'... You should do better being a 6.0 VHO and if you wait for the IC kit, God only knows what you'll do...
The downside of the Kenne Bell is their customer service... shitty from what I have heard. And I can't take anything away from the Radix kit either... It's a very complete kit which delivers great power and great customer service... I just prefer the greater power of the Ken Bell's.
Either way you are gettin some great power it just depends on what goals you have set for your truck, this is just my .02
P.S. If I have given any bad information about the STS kit, I do apologize, I don't know everything there is to know about it and I hope someone will correct me on it...

No bad info there mate. Just that they changed the front pipe that goes into the passangerside tire well. It no longer hangs really low and now I don't think any of the kit hangs lower than any other part of the truck. So no scraping on anything... Only problem I can see is running over a cat or other medium sized creature and taking out the wastegate hoses.
Solution? Just put an airdam on the front of your SLAMMED ride so that you simply scoop up the poor critter and push it off to the side of the road.

No your right on the STS kit its mounted underneath the truck but its tucked up so clearance really isnt a big issue from what I can tell-I could be wrong though but I dont think clearance is an issue with this kit. I want to be able to run 11-12's and beat a lightning with ease-I can already hang but not beat the lightning(bone stock no bolt-ons)so I know I would for sure get my *** handed to me by a modded lightning. For some reason I like the sound of a supercharger better than a turbo but as long as its makin power I dont care what it sounds like.

I can't see an Extended Cab VHO hangin' with a Lightning unless the Lightning is pulling a boat!....With that aside, my choice would be the Radix. I like the drivability associated with the Radix and the off idle power....and I'm not really wild about the position of the Turbo on the STS kit. I know they are making good power, but I worry about the position of the air filter element in extreme weather. If I were going to go with a Turbo, I'd go with the Combination Motorsports kit, although I think right now they are only offering it "installed" and not in a kit form yet.

A turbo or supercharged VHO should hang with a stock Lightning NP. Most of em only trap about 98-100mph avg anyway.
The filter location is such a simple fix on the STS that I still don't see why you would knock it. The snorkle kit moves it out of the elements. Even then the small filter and low boost doesn't cause a problem even where it sits stock.

My Tahoe with a 3.25"pulleyed Radix setup, long tube headers and electric fans has outrun plenty of Ford Lightnings.I don't think your truck weighs more than a Tahoe and It has a 6.0 vs.a 5.3 that I was running. My Tahoe has run 13.20s and most stock Lightnings are lucky to break into the 13s.
