my boss has a protec box on his truck. very nice and it holds up very well. the box is about 50lbs lighter overall. if i end up with a silverado next year i'm going to swap the box for a protec. i like the protec box more and it's lighter.

I disagree with that above about the stepside beds. If that's about the regularstepside beds ... the inside of the ed is steel. The tailgat is too, the whole thing, except for the handle of course.

i certainly like the look of the sportside trucks. the downside to them is aerodynamics. in the wind tunnel they show alot of turbulance around the box sides.

Where did you get this info? I'm running a s/s and i'd like to see that. I've wondered if my rear bumper is catching some air as well.

As far as taking weight off the back goes I left my bumper on just for the weight. I could use a little more in the back and a lot less in the front.
