Make sure it has aluminum heads...or 2001+. Run away if it has iron heads or is a 99 or 00.

I got a 2006 longblock with harmonic balancer and oil pan only with 19k miles on it delivered to my house for $1250...your accesories will swap over from your 4.8 on it.

sorry to steal the thread kinda but...

how can one tell if an engine is a LQ4 or LQ9? are there numbers on the block?

problem is that it is a 2000, i believe the LQ4 is from 2500HD, and LQ9 is from Denali and Escalades

give this a try

go for the 99 and up 2500 silverados with a 6.0
i think you will find that at 3.00 a gallon it will be much cheaper
to go and pick up then pay the price of fright to your house on e bay.

flat top pistons is lq9...dished is lq4...have to look at them

Try www.car-parts.com, they will list most available 6.0s and give prices and distance from your area code.

afaik...depends on the year of the engine..the LQ9 has beefier rods but the LQ4 got them in 04 so if its 04 and newer, good luck trying to figure it out.

I Bought my 2004 LQ9 outta a Silverado ss for $800 with 10k miles on it i thought that i got a really good deal lol, but look around on LS1tech cause thats where i found that one, hope this helps, good luck
