Default Coils

So you can all dog me if you want and tell me stock coils make great power for up to 500 hp and all but this is my question. My truck is a 99 new body style, in those body styles till the 06 they made 4 or 5 different style coil packs. Is there a way to convert my coil mounts so i can use a new style coil like the accel or msd? Or will the plugs be different that go to the coil? I need to get a new coil so i figured why not change them all and the rotor. While im at it im going to replace the spark plug wires with 8.5 mm over my current 7mm and go with some new plugs.

Don't waste your money on aftermarket coils. Stick with stockers.
The money you're going to spend ($300-$500) on coils, use that $$$ on a stall converter.
Best bang for your buck..

Do you know if its at lest possible to convert to the newer style coil? I know I can get the mounting platform for them but my question is will it plug in and work? Also what stall do you have with what cam size? How hard was it to get it to pass smog? Im looking to do a 220r cam with 3600 stall. Does that sound about right?

Not sure on the coils. I'm sure they make a wiring harness adapter for them.
My truck passed smog without a peep. They just made sure i had carb sticker for headers and intake.

I'm running a Isky triple 12 with SS3200 yank stall.
Your cam and stall are a good choice.

You dont need any adapters. The valve covers will fit all the stock coils if they are on the bracket.

FWIW, I dont know of any 1000hp+ guys on this forum that use anything other than stock coils.

I know I have read that everywhere I just have to buy a new coil and I figured will im at it just do all of them so I dont have any more problems with it. The msd ones are on sale and I would pay an extra 100 bucks for them over the stock. Id rather pay a little extra and have it look cleaner and match my new red wires haha. I guess its maybe a waste of money but it looks way better.
