Not that I know of. To my understanding, the 85e is a performance thing for the aftermarket. A lot of the hot rod builders are using that as the tranny of choice now for street machines, I guess because of the lockup converter. I think this is why GM decided to build an 85e.

Flyer, my 3/4 ton Yukon XL with the 8.1L is bolted to an 85E; different option code for the tranny versus the 6.0L. I think a lot of the "production" info called it a 4L80E-Heavy Duty, that's why you won't see it referred to as an 85.

The 8.1L SUVs get the 85E, the 8.1L/Duramax trucks get the Allison.

From my understanding the 80E was not rated for the torque the 8.1 made, thats why they developed the 85E.

All K2500 Avalanches with the 8.1L come with the 4L85E standard _ suspect the same is true of the K2500 Subs with 8.1L

I have it lifted 4" now, industrial strength bumper - but it still can leave 10 - 15 feet of rubber. I have been experimenting with various cold air schemes, have it down to an IAT of ambiant + 7 degrees on the highway, which works out to ambiant + 30 at the intake after the intercooler. I am fighting a weird issue with the IAT/MAF in that it spikes to 120 when I hit it - all the cladding is now Superliner coated, truck is all black.
