As said Either leave it alone, or upgrade to an LS6 oil pump, LS2 timing chain.

Easier to change now while motor is out, taking off the pan on an engine stand makes it SIMPLE.

But the pump is gear driven and im sure it should last you at least another 100,000 miles .
