Default Can't believe the exhaust I saw today...

A rancher came by the office today with a '01 2500HD. I noticed he didn't have the factory tailpipe, but instead had a single 2" tailpipe in it's place. I asked him about it and he said that the factory muffler hangs down too low and eventually got several holes in it from dragging on rough ranch roads. He told me he had a muffler shop install the smallest muffler possible so it would tuck up under the truck better and not drag. It was a 2" dual in/single out. I then asked which engine he had.......yep, an 8.1L big block! Talk about restriction!

He said he tried running straight pipes & glasspacks at first for maximum ground clearance, but it was just too damn loud.

That is pretty funny. Some people do some strange things sometimes. I remeber one time, I went with a buddy who was looking for a truck and we found a 2000 Chevy Silverado Sportside, almost the exact same truck as mine. Well anyways, the salesman told us that the truck had a Flowmaster exhaust. My friend test drove it and it did not sound like a Flowmaster at all, if fact, it sounded like crap. After the test drive he pulled the truck up and I looked under and took a look at the exhaust, and what I saw made me laugh. This guy started a pipe from the y-pipe, which was about 2 1/2 inches, and then it was reduced to about 2 inches, and then it slit off into duel 1 1/2 pipes coming out both sides of the rear fender. This guy did not even have a muffler on it and the whole exhaust looked like a pile of rust. I do not know how to weld, and I could probably do a better job than the one on the truck. My friend did not buy the truck, but I thought that was a funny story that went along with yours. Kent.
