Unhappy Cannot get my knock sensor to read anything.

I have yet to get a reading from my knock sensor. I've been told that after you do the 411 swap like I have that you have to turn it on which HP Tuners cannot do. I have also been told it should work just fine. It always reads 0.0*. I just took a wrench and banged around on the engine and it still read 0.0*. The sensor wire is located at blue connector pin #51. I have a 45* elbow connecting the sensor to the bottom side of the block and no teflon tape wrapped around it. What other than it not getting a good connection (which I would think would throw a KS low voltage DTC) would cause this?

Give us more information on the vehicle it's in, motor in it and what type of 411 pcm conversion you did.

2000 S10 Blazer with a 350 Vortec. I didn't know there were different types of 411 conversions, I followed the one on gmtruckcentral.com.

EDIT: I checked the wire from the pcm to the knock sensor connector (since I had to extend it for the swap) and it's good. Put a ground to the knock sensor and banged around the engine. No reading whatsoever

Knock sensor wire needs to be in blue connector pin#51. Verify it is in the correct spot on the pcm.
If it is then order a knock sensor for a 02 3/4 5.7 chevy van

It should only have one knock sensor installed. Have you tried a identical spare knock sensor. If it is overtightened during installation it's junk you just barely snug them. Next step try screwing it into the block without any adaptors.

Yes, just one knock sensor. I have not tried an identical one, just one from my 4.3(different part #), which also said 0 retard. I just snugged it up. I'll see if I have time tomorrow to move it somewhere else on the block.

Okay I know it has been a while, but I thought I'd bump this since I now have time to work on it. So far I've:
  • Verified the wire is in the correct spot.
  • Tried two different knock sensors.
  • Checked for continuity from the knock sensor connector to the pin.
  • Hooked a timing light up and banged on the engine, nothing happened. The notch on the balancer is about 1" before the mark on the timing cover though, idk if that matters.

I'm at wits end here folks!
