Default can I run w/o tune?

I'm putting the hi-lift comp 212/218 cam in my 5.3 very soon. I sent off for my retune, but I'm not sure when it will get back to me. Will I be able to run this cam on the stock tune at all? It would only be for a while.

I think it will run, not sure how good. Someone with more tuning exp will chime in for sure.

yes you can, I ran it with the same cam while I got tune back, just dont expect it to act good, it may stall every once in a while...

just two foot it.. it'll get old, but it'll run... might not start right up all the time either.. might have to give it some gas while it gets warm and ease off the pedal to get it to idle. I had fun with mine like that for a week, lol.

I drove my truck a year untuned with the low lift version of that cam in the 5.3l. It ran fine, if you have stalling problems, ether turn in the throttle stop screw on the tb, or inlarge the hole in the tb. But it will set a random misfire code if you let it idle for too long.
