Default Camshaft engine 99 Silverado

I have a 1999 Chevy silverado, 5.3 liter, vin T, LM7 engine with a bad cam gm# 12560966. Can I replace the 1999 cam with a 2000 gm# 12560967 cam? Would any re-tuning reprogramming be required?

Holy crap did those stock camshafts get expensive. But yes, that camshaft would be a direct replacement.

Yes.

No.

That's AHELLUVALOTTA trouble to go to, to still end up with nothing but a stock cam.

What makes you think the one you have is "bad"? If it GENUINELY is "bad", what made it so? Have you identified and fixed that? What else did it take with it?

Excuse my poor English, minus a technical English. My language is Spanish.
I have this problem with this Silvera 99 whose camshaft has a wear (genuine GM 17122490 Valve Lifter) was destroyed, but the original is discontinued (gm # 12560966) and must be changed to elgm # 12560967..
The problem is that it presents a different angle of what they call LSA, which as I am not a mechanic I do not know what it means and if any modification or adjustment should be made when installing this version.

AñoPieza#DuraciónElevaciónde válvulas LSA

9912560966191/190.457/.466115,5

00-04 12560967191/190.457/.466114

The angle of separation of the lobe is 115.5 degrees for 1999 and 114 ° modes for 2000-2007 engine models.

There are a lot of first year only things for the 1999 LS engines in the Silverado's.

They mildly changed the camshaft for one and the 2000+ also got different fuel injectors and engine calibration tuning done for them as well. The 2000+ all used that later part number camshaft and you'd honestly notice zero difference with the LSA changing that much, it would not require any other changes.
