Cams?????

I have a single stage cam 216 duration intake and exhaust a .524 lift on both and a 114 lsa. I have lost lots and lots of lowend power. But, I can still turn the tires over at a stand still and when I hit 3k it really kicks in hard. I cruise at around 1200-1400 and have no problems, and I have had no tuning done but need it really really bad, it is hard to start sometimes but when started it stays running. I can also chirp the tires at 35mph now (I am a peg leg
). With a five speed you will have no problems at all with a cam, you just down shift for higher rpm's. If you want to take off hard, get the rpm's up before you dump the clutch. Oh, and if you do go over .500 lift you should get different springs, your stock springs would probably hold up for a little while but they would eventually break and that is not good. It all depends on how much you want to gain, and where you want to gain it. Good luck
Oh, and a cam was the hardest decision I had to make so far.

Nothing that a little convertor--or "torque in a bottle"-- won't cure!

My cam pulls hard to about 6100-6200 rpms, and that is also about where I shift because I don't have ls1 edit. If I had edit I would shift around 6250-6300. But it also doesn't really kick in hard till about 3k, I also need tuning in a bad way though. I am waiting for stage II heads though before I get tuning done. I have learned that the bigger cam you get the more compression you need, because the larger the cam the less crank pressure you get.

I have my shifts set at 5800 rpm with the predator, by the time it shift it runs real close to the 6000 RPM predator limit, so I don't know what it will pull to. I am running 2002 LS6 valve springs (blue). If anybody is planing to change there own cam/valve springs, seriously get a set of keepers, I only lost 3 but I spent 30-45 minutes each tring to find them, with all the skid plates, front diff, drive shafts, its hard to see anywhere.

just run the cam i am running. the f1 cam 591/569 230/226 with a 112 lsa. but then you have to do a lot to the motor to hold up. Also this is not really recommended for a daily driver.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm building a 2001 6.0 to go in a scsb 2wd. Guess Im gonna try the 212/218 .522/.529 114 Comp cam. I'm hoping in the 6.0 with LS6 heads it will pull to about 6000 RPM's. Any opinions on this?
