Default Cam upgrade

I have a 2003 chevy silverado with a 4.8 motor. It's an underdog motor for sure and I defiantly enjoy the idea of beefing up the motor. I've already put dual exhaust with an h-pipe, cold air intake and a bullydog tuner. My next big upgrade will be a performance cam. It's a truck I drive to work everyday so I defiantly need something that gives me that awesome muscle car rattle but I can drive almost everyday. I was told this would give me a lot more hp at the wheel.
Problem is I know zero about performance cams and which are the best. Anyone have some insight?

There are a lot of guys on here who can help you with cams.

You will want to keep it derivable as you mentioned, but who wants to do a cam swap without it being heard?? lol

Also, FYI I moved this from 8 lug performance into GM engine and exhaust performance. It is a much better fitting section for this question.

Yeah I'm from Boston. Grew up in Chelsea and the family now lives on the cape. I work all over the country so I haven't been home in years. Will be there next year for a family reunion.

I dont think you could go wrong with the old standby... The 212/218 with a 112lsa. It is a great daily driver and offers impressive power gains and the sound you want. Several vendors offer it or woul could have it custom grinded for a different lift or lsa.

Also now that your getting into the internal engine mods game you will need a real tune to make it run good and get the most power from your setup.

Bullydog is decent at best on a stock truck. When you get into real modifications you will need a custom tune. You can't do it with a handheld tuner.

By old standby he was referring to the comp 212/218 cam.

I defiantly like the sound of the cam you recommended? Exactly that muscle car idle sound I want. Any recommended manufacturers?
