Default cam swap in 4.8 question

quick question

im helping a buddy install a cam in his 4.8L truck this weekend i think.

ive done numerous cam swaps on ls1's and was just wondering if all the same rules and tricks apply.

do the lifters have the friction retainers the ls1 do?
will the ls1 lifter tools work on the trucks?

i know the spring swap will be the same i have 4.8L heads on my car.

and online writeups i could look at or do any of you guys have any tips

thanks

ryan

Ya they are basicly the same. Everything you need to know is right here http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=23 it helped me out and since you have done other ls1 you won't have a problem.

The JPR lifter tool in that article may or may not work on the passenger side. Some have had trouble getting it to go all the way in, including me. The pen magnets work great though.
