Default cam and stall for 4.8

What would be a good cam and stall for my 4.8 rcsb. I was told a 220/220 581 581 112 would be a good cam.

scoggin dickey HT-1 and a 2800'ish stall.
.581 lift is overkill on stock heads...look for something at or slightly above/below .550.

What are you trying to do with the truck? Drag race? roll race? daily-driver?

Do you ever tow anything?

I am currently running a 216/220 .56x/.56x on 110+2 in my "cam only" 4.8l. Just have stock air box, 1 3/4 headers, and a big single exhaust. Just running stock stall for now, and it could use some work in that department. Anyway, it doesnt have much under 3000rpm, but then again, neither did the stocker, it pulls HARD from 4000 past 7000. I'm not really sure why anyone would want much bigger of a cam in a 4.8 (maybe they got more ***** than me and are going to shift drastically higher than 7100?) dont let people sway you on cam specs that would work well in a 5.3 or 6.0l, the 4.8 is a much smaller engine and is very easy to overcam. Oh, and it produces this lumpy idling sound which i could listen to all day lol. My truck is a 2004 ecsb with a 4l60 and 3.42 gears.

I'm looking into this again myself. It's been a while since I've been on here, but looking forward to see what people have to say these days as well. I remember someone pointing me in the direction of a 216/218 (don't recall i/e lift) on 115 LSA? This with the TB stall was supposed to be a decent DD setup with lots of low end torque. Peeps, chime in...please

It takes a lot of converter to make a 4.8 move from a dig even on a stock engine. The more cam you run, the more converter you will need for optimum performance. Depending on your goals I'd say anything from 3200 (if towing) to 4000 (more performance oriented). Don't waste your time spending money on a tb stall on a 4.8 with a cam. It still is going to be a turd on bottom end.

Nothing over 220 duration for a 4.8 and 3600 stall would be ideal. 212/218 is a proven cam. Or something like corey had. 214/220 on a 108+2

212/218 and a yank 3000....done deal!
its a 4.8 no need to over cam it
DONT get all wrapped up in lift numbers either...my cam has .529 lift and pulls strong
dont let a small cam fool you! small cam with the right set up will run strong
