Default which cam in my 5.3??

ok so deciding on a good cam for my 5.3. I am eventually going to get at least a 3000 stall so big cam should be good..its my daily driver. tsp228? thats the one i was thinking of..but the thing is since its got .588 lift will i have to go with high performance springs? or will the stockers hold up? any input is really appreciated!!

With a 3k converter I'd go with a TR220, the 228 is going to want more converter, probably more like 3600+. You'll need new springs regardless and I like the insurance of hardened pushrods. I'd look into PAC 1218 or 1518 springs depending on how much lift you go with.

220R will work great with a 3k stall . . its a proven cam. . and you wont sacrifice DD at all. . .
PAC 1218's valve spring are great price/ haven't failed so far... and there good for 600 lift. Might also want 2 put hardened pushrods in there, while your at it.. You woun't want a rod bending at high rpm's..

yea that sounds like a great combo...gonna go with some pacesetter Lt's and ory, 3 inch exhaust and 24 inch magnaflow first then get a tune and save up for a good cam/valvetrain package..
