which cam for me
#1
im trying to figure out if i want to put this tr227 in my truck or just buy another cam. i want to make the most power available. the truck is not or will not be boosted but if i do it later then i will change the cam. i want something that pulls like a **** all the way till like 6500. im planning on a 3000 stall, already have a shift kit, and nelson is doing my tuning. let me know if i left anything out.

If you do a 3k stall or more and want it to make that much power up there in the power band than Either the TR227 or TR224 would be ideal. Since you already have the 227, i'd say go for it. What else do you need with that? 918 springs w/ new locks/retainers and some stock length pushrods?

The TR220, 224, or 227 would put you up to 6500 rpm. After reading some of the legthy cam threads in the last week or so, I am leaning more towards the Comp 222/224 w/112LSA. The split duration cam will widen the range some where the single pattern cams would have more of a peak.

That comp cam is NOT good for an ecsb Z71 it is too haevy I learned the hard way. It would have been better with a 3200 stall the stall I had in at the time only stalled to 2500 so that was screwing up my 0-60 times. It would work pretty good with a 3200 stall. If I was going to keep my 5.3 I would put a TR220 in it and a 3000 stall.

I'd say maybe if its on a 114. I still gotta two-foot my tr224 in tight parking lots where you are using full power steering at idle and shifting from drive to reverse back and forth. I'm shifting at 6k right now, but it is still pulling hard so I'm gonna raise my shift points to 6500. And the lope is mean with a cutout
