Default Cam on its way!

I got a new Comp Cam 212/218 .522/.529 114lsa coming soon that should make a decent combo with my 4.8l, and I would like to get all the other necessary parts for it.

Valve springs. I know 2002+ LS6 valve springs will work, but should I get comp 918s anyway? It would be nice to know you have a stronger spring for later modifications, but for the price difference is there any advantages between the two? Does either one offer any gains from a performance standpoint with the small lift of this cam?

Pushrods. What pushrods should I get, or do you even recommend them? I currently have a Nelson tune and shift at 5800 RPMs. After I get the cam installed, I am pretty sure he'll bump up the shiftpoints a little more. Any recommendations?

Anything else?

thanks alot,

You can the use ls6 springs. The lift on your cam is still way below their limit. Some people say pushrods are not necessary but I still got them as a sence of security. They all cost about the same. I got mine from Thunder Racing for $110.

Cool man, glad to hear you are getting the cam; a great choice too. The LS6 spring out of the 2002 should do just fine. The pushrods are completely up to you, everyone has there own thoughts about them. I left mine stock when I did my cam, I don't feel there is any benifit or gain out of them, for our trucks. Allen has my shift points at 6100 and this thing pulls all the way. He said he could go higher, but I want to have a built tranny before I do that.
