Default Cam Installed

I finally got my lunati cam and valve springs installed. I ended up buying the 558/558 lift 221/221 dur cam and it works great. I am running it in my 4.8 and everybody told me it would be to big yeah right its just right. It sounds really good at idle. It really starts making its power up past 3,500 rpms. Don't be scared to turn the little 4.8 to 6,500 because I do.

With the short stroke of the 4.8 and small cubes, that cam would probably scream in the upper rpms. Get a converter that stalls 4000ish rpms, and you'd have a shot at the fastest NA 4.8.

Yike's 4000ish, sounds a tad high, ya? I've heard of ppl putting high stalls in the whipple and radix trucks and not gaining much. The blowers make good torque down low so there's no need for a big stall. I would guess around a 2800, 3000tops. Just my guess and what I've seen. I'm sure there are fast whipple trucks out there with big stalls.

Good job on the cam yellow, now get those et slicks!

later,

allen

I didn't realize yellowsierra had a blower, thats why I made the fastest "NA 4.8" comment. To me, 4000 stall is way too high no matter what the vehicle, but then I wouldn't really want a T1 or B1 in a 4.8 truck either. I figured that if hes got to deal with the effects of the cam, might as well deal with the 4000 stall and make it an upper rpm screamer.

So far I have the stock stall which really doesn't hurt me that much because of the whipple and the torque it makes down low. Another reason my truck is up and running good is because of my nelson tune. I believe allens tune is the diffence in having a fast truck to having a FAST TRUCK!!!
