He meant you can shove a big screwdriver into the pulley or flexplate to hold it in place while you loosen the bolt. Be careful though not to break anything, obviously.

Edit: Other guy beat me to it.

as far as something to compress the springs with...if you can find like a 88 chevy celebrity or something along those lines like a FWD car they have a front mount bar that just attaches the front mount to the support well that bar can be used to compress valve springs if you just bend it slightly...if you find one and take a pic i'll draw it up on here how to bend & there's a little piece you have to cut but other than that...cheaper than buying the tool that does the same thing

4. I couldnt find anything on TSPs website about a camshaft swap kit...but the water pump gasket is only like $3, of which how many do I need? 1 or 2?

I wasn't sure what blue2003ls meant by "pin the balancer/pulley" since Im getting a supercharger eventually.

I think I might buy "tims tool" off of ls1tech. it only 30 bucks, everyone seems to like it.

you need the cam swap gasket kit. TSP has'em for like 53$ or something....comes with new timing cover gasket, front seal, new balancer pulley bolt, water pump gaskets!

I didn't need any gaskets on my cam change. They all were reusable. All I needed was a little bit of grey engine RTV for the lower corners of the timing cover.

The LSx front gaskets are re-usable, unless I guess if you have like 70,000+ miles.

almost guaranteed that your timing cover and/or front seal will leak at some point in the near future...not a chance to take with such a minimal amount of cash involved with buying the new gaskets!!! The water pump gaskets will also leak if they were not changed. most likely anyway!

Thanks for the clarification. I read the thread and I agree I'll just do that when I do the blower since there isnt a big need for it now.

My engine has about 40k on it, so ill be replacing the seals, may as well, I hate leaks.

Looks like Ill be ordering the TSP kit, rods, and that little tool here soon. And hopefully Ill get to install this stuff in a couple weeks.

How much coolant do I need to replace? I dont think ive ever changed the coolant anyway, so perfect timing.
