how do those work anyways? im sure they just slide in somewhere on the block. never done a cam swap on a GenIII. I need to know for this summer

pen magnets...telescoping with the pocket clip work VERY well...plus the kids like to play with them too....about 2 bux each at Oreillys auto parts

where do you insert the pen magnet or this tool? take off valve covers lift each one by itself? sorry for bein confused, just never done a genIII cam swap

wooden dowel rods work. i think its something like 5/16" or something. homedepot has them real cheap.

I've heard of people using dowel rods before and had them work with no problem. I'm probably just gonna use some aluminum round stock from work, cut to length.

i've searched around and found a few how-to's on swapping cams, but all of them just do the "rotate the cam for about 60 seconds until you dont hear/feel a ticking noise" then they just pull out the cam, and put a new one in. I guess that approach works, the only thing I can think of is to place the dowel rods into the 2 oil passages just above the cam. iono.

ive used some threaded rod stock before, had to grind one edge down the side. worked once i got it grinded enough.

that is the worse way to do it, i think they call that the roulette method, some people have not had problems but the few i did, it would not have worked and gaurantee the lifter woulda fell in the pan. your asking for trouble there.

i had the best success with the pen magnets but they are pricey when you got to buy 16 of them.
