Default Cam help

First off: I'm sure you guys get sick and tired of new people coming in here and asking "what cam is right for me", but I just read through the cam guide and still do not really understand what cam is right for me.

I have a 4.8, I want a "mild cam" I want a very noticable differance, but still want to drive my truck every day like I do now.

I understand I need to also buy springs...

Maybe if you guys could recomend what setup to go with and I can choose from there. Cam/springs and what ever els I need when swaping cam.

THX, STATiC

Either the Vinci 'Trucker' Cam (I think it is 212/218) with LS6 springs or the TR220 (220/220) with 918 springs. I would get hardened pushrods with either and possibly a higher stall to take advantage of each.

This thing helped me immensely - https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=387763

And there was a thread titled "The Cam Thread" that gave a basic outline for each cam in each motor. (Manufacturer, Specs, Is tuning required, How will it idle, etc)

The TR220 looked about right going off the cam chart, so I typed that cam into the search page and read up as much as I could. I found out almost everything I needed to know about the cam, how it would work in my truck, tuning needed, power to expect, what supporting mods I need. I even found sound clips and vids.

There are a lot of talented, smart people with lots of experience on here and you can find out almost anything you need from the search.

I would first look at that cam sheet, find a couple cams that sound right to you, then research them a bit and ask specific questions.

Both of these cams should work well. I ran the 216/220 Comp with the 918's and loved it. Just remember you will need a custom tune and a good stall to really take advantage of it in your 4.8. I know for sure the 216/220 will require tunning in the 4.8!

The way I figure it, picture what you think you want, and get a size bigger. I wanted a 220 split duration and ended up going with a 224 split duration and I'm glad I did. Kinda like my converter I'll hopefully be getting I wanted a 3k so I'm getting a 3200.
