Default Cam help.

I thinking about running this Comp Cam in my 4.3 (Cam). The question is what is an approximate install charge for these? Will it cause my gas mileage to die, or kill my reliability?

Install runs around $4-600. Worried about gas milage? Problem is, when you start modding your truck you'll want to keep "testing" it and milage suffers.

Thats a nice cam but like silver said what other mods do you have or are you doing

if your doing a cam you really should have full exhaust 1st to help out on any car or truck i have moded i have always done headers, ory and a cat back then a cam that way you get the full effect of the cam just my .02

I just have a flowmaster exhaust. I didn't think the install would be upwards of $400 dollars . Oh well, you gotta pay to play.

I'd get some type of LT headers, at least shorty's on the 4.3.. some port work on those heads, because they suck, and last but not least, an aftermarket TB... I know they are out there for the 4.3's Extendocab had one on his 4.3 and that thing ran pretty good.... I think that little cam would do great in the V6 personally... who are you going to get to tune it? It will need tuning...

TB or TB spacer? I heard the TB spacers didn't do anything but maybe that's just the v8s? Really don't know who I'd be tuning it with, looks like I might be better off doing the smaller bolt ons first like you guys said. Would a mail order tune like Nelson or wait4me be good?

Thanks for the help everybody.

a whole new throttle body...

I know a company called CFM Technologies does stock TB's ported and polished. a lot of good work goes into them. they do their homework... you are right about the spacers though, they dont do much on any mtor. but they do more on the older style TB/intakes than they do the newer V8 stuff. As far as your tune goes, I would go with Allen Nelson's tune if you have the cash. if its tight then the W4M would get you by for a while...

-You gotta PM too BTW
