Cam or headers?
#1
I am about to order a radix. I am wondering if a supermaxx header kit or a gt2-3 cam and nelson tune would be better. Whatchallthink? Yes I have a complex.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong...
I'm not a pro at this, but I'd assume you'd want to improve exhaust flow & tune before installing a Radix. I would think the PCM/ECM would react to the differences in air/fuel flowing through the engine.

My suggestion would be get the headers on first. Then once you're settled in with the blower slap that cam in there. You might see more gains from the cam, but letting the blower flow freely and getting that extra 1 to 1/2# of boost should be priority. After that go crazy on tuning and camming.
Congrats on the Radix!!

Get the nelson tune first and headers that way when you get the cam you already ahve the tuning lined up and Allen can hook you up with the smaller pulleys that you are oging to need

I have to disagree, I say the cam. As long as you have a decent cat-back you will be okay. The stock gm manifolds flow well for stock.
The cam is better in my opinion, it will yield better hp numbers. At least 30. I dont think headers are good for that much. At least they werent in my set up. I went with TOG's and gained less than 20 rwhp. The cam is going to extend your rpm range.
I would not to a nelson tune though, i think you should go with a dyno or street tune. I would intall the radix first, make sure there are no problems and go from there, regardless whether you go with headers or cam.

Allen already has tune files on hand of whatever setup he could possibly run with the radix on the 5.3 so its not like he is just taking a guess he knows his ****. His mail order tune was only .01 second slower in the 1/4 than pcmforless's tune that was done IN PERSON so he knows his stuff. The dynatech headers are going to be worth more than your headers due to being a true long tube header. Also he is going to pulley for its just a known fact that he will once you start doing that you need a custom tune not to mention allens tune can give him 40rwhp with just the tune add to that 20ish on the low side from the headers you got 60rwhp and if you put a cam in it wont run off the magnacharger tune he will need a custom tune. You gotta crawl before you can walk
