Cam...even tuned properly e-fans arent worth the hassle. So they free up 15+hp, its irrelevant @ WOT cause the clutch fan disengages. U wont feel the diff with fans that u will with a cam. Fans are a PITA - I'd never do them again unless they came stock...voltage drop, lights dim, relays blow (then truck overheats!). Of course if u do them, check out the various harnesses. So far I have yet to find one with big enuf guage to handle the voltage draw without the above probs...
And I don't have problems like that with my E-fans, been on there for years. I run a decent gauge wire, 2 fuses, and 2 relays. I have the 105a alternator as well.

I'd vote fans. Sure they won't give you the HP gains that a cam would, but you can also do fans for $150. Fans are fast, easy, cheep, and will allow you to install a cooler t-stat and run the engine cooler in preparation for a cam.

Well as divided as this topic is I got a deal on an 02 LS6 cam (pt.net remains divided on this issue as well) Giving up some bottom end but good mid and high end is a trade off.
Got the cam, springs, pushrods retatiners and seats for $150. Great deal IMO

That's an excellent deal. Every LS6 cam I have seen goes for $250-$300 used, cam only! I was thinking LS6 cam till I realized I'd be paying nearly as much for a used cam as buying a bigger/higher HP cam new.

If you are getting fans either way, in other words if not sooner then later, I would put them in first. My reasoning is that it should run fine with the fans and stock cam. If you add fans after you have had it tuned for the new cam, it might need some more tuning for the fans because of the cam.
