Default Cam & crank gear

Is there anyway to line up the mentioned gears without seeing the crank gear dot. For the life of me I can't see it.

I'm trying to do it without removing the oil pump. But it's looking like I'm going to have to.

Put the #1 piston at TDC, and you should find the mark on the crank pulley at 12 o'clock.

It was right on the money. Put number one cylinder at top dead center found the dot mark.
