I just did mine this weekend and this was my first LS1. I am used to the old sbc engines and this was very different. But it isnt bad at all, $400 is still a lot of money. Go on LS1howto.com. On the right hand side there is a link that says "f-body heads/cam swap". I followed that step by step. There are a few things that are different, like the condensor doesnt have to be removed, and other stuff like that. Just take your time with it. A rushed job usually ends in disaster. Don't be afraid to get a ride to school if it's not gonna be done it time.

So my question is should i do the cam swap myself and just have him tune it or is it to much of a headache to deal with?
if you bought it all seperate, and then had it dyno tuned, even with you installing it all, it would run you a grand easy.

cam-400
springs-~100
rods-90
tune-400

you would be crazy not to just pay them to do it.

That's a hell of a deal if you look at it the dyno tune $400 it's self then $400 labor thats $800 already then the rest of parts you can't loose with that deal.. you don't wanna know what I paid... I wish I had that deal when I did mine...
