I just installed a Comp XR265HR high lift in my 4.8. I have about $340 in the cam, springs and pushrods (check the classifieds) and another $100 in gaskets, fluids and a OE replacement timing chain. As far as gains no numbers because I haven't been to a dyno ever. But seat of the pants I can tell you there is no improvement down low. Mid range it picks up a whole hell of a lot better over stock. I have not had it to redline yet. want to give it some break in time before I go up that high in the RPM.

Where did you get that? All I find around Baltimore are high milage 6.0s or burnt ones at that price! Literally I went and looked at a "low milage LQ4" to only find out from the guy that pulled the motor that it sat out in the rain for a week without the intake on. They wanted 1400 for that.

my 6.0 was 800, 70k, but add in fluids filters bolts gaskets whatever else plus a dyno tune it adds up fast

but swaps arent for everyone, not everybody has the tools and space, and some of those dont have the friends with the tools or space, and to pay a shop is usually out of the question

anyone want to come to san diego i can get you to a place who will sell you a motor and swap it for 300 labor, 4.8/5.3's start at like 250, 6.0's start at 700

Yeah, I'm on craigslist everyday doing the search. Eventually one will pop up. Been a few LS1s but $2500 is a bit much IMO.

Sorry no dyno on island. But as everyone says...Seat of pants meter doesnt start to rise until 2500 rpms, then pulls like a SOB! With the stock TC, it sucked *****, But with my trailblazer torque converter(from chevrolet all the way)...I get to the power band quickly. So much fun to drive! 4.8's benefit greatly from cam and gears. That's the only mod left to do...4.11's.

All in all I am happy with my little engine that could. A turbo would be awesome but that is way outside of my budget.

I dont think you can do a motor for 700 bucks....Yeah a 6.0 would be great. Everyone with a 4.8 doesn't need a motorswap, build it like a 5.3 and choose your drivetrain accordingly, it'll be fine.
I payed 750 for my 6.0, and sold the stuff off it I didn't need, and had 550 in it.
