Visit some of our sponsors. They have a wide variety of cam spec to suit your needs. BTW, welcome to the site, there's much to be learned here. What truck do you have and what do you want to do with it as far as performance?

Silent1 summed it up real good.

The truck motors can run cams just about as agressive as the true LS1's. Once you get up around the size of the Thunder Racing t-rex (or Silent1's cam), I'd start checking P-V clearances to be sure.

thanks for the input, so far i have headers hppII kN gen II flowmaster single chamber, and thats about it. what i really want to do is get a cam and port and polish my heads. what would be good to run if i sitll wanted to drive it everyday and acutlly use the truck. and how much would a cam cost and how much to get it installed thanks again

What kind of headers? Shorty headers don't do much for our trucks. Long tube headers are definitely the way to go if you have the money. They range from $750-$1300! For a daily driven truck, I'd probably wouldn't go further than stage II 5.3 heads with a cam somewhere around a 212/218 114LS and maybe some rockers. A head and cam package will cost about $1700+ and rockers are now ranging from $300-$700. You may also want to look into getting more agressive gears and a torque converter with a stall speed between 2600-3000 RPM's. Converters range from $500-$850 and gears cost about $550 with an Eaton posi. All these are just parts prices, I'm not sure about labor costs. If you can do all of these things, you'll have a very well mannered truck with a NICE kick. And if you can't, most of these upgrades alone will give you good performance boost.
