Thats what i was wondering if it does kick off at a higher rpm...if it didnt couldnt you just wire up a switch to turn it off at wot...if seems like it would give you a little more power when you would floor it around town

The A/C compressor will kick off after a second of WOT on most vehicles.

The PCM commands the compressor off at WOT and above a certain RPM. It's changeable in the tune, not sure what stock setting are but I know that for mine it turns off over 85% throttle and over like 4100 RPM.

I dont feel thepower loss at all acctually, my cousin was driving my truck and he said he turned the AC on and he was like i heard a clunk but the drive was the same it didnt need a heavier foot to move like my impala does, he says how many miles you get with a tank full with AC on and i said 300 and with the Ac off 300 he was shocked.
