Default Build up in throttle body

A few months ago my gas pedal started sticking a bit, I had to tap it to get it to move. It is not sticking at WOT, but sticking shut at idle. I took it out and found alot of carbon or oily deposit on the backside of the throttle blade and in the barrell of the TB behind the blade.

I cleaned all of this out and it worked perfect, now it is back and doing the same thing as before. I still have my EGR but did remove the secondar air injection system (cali emission crap) which I was told to be safe.

Anybody have a clue as to why I'm getting the build up in my TB? It's about time for a plug change, but I wouldn't think that would be the culprit. It does not smoke and only has 64K on the clock.

Thanks

i dont know but my 99 4.3L would do that, stick closed at idle but it seemed it didnt do it as bad like stopped at a red light or something, but when it was first started.

i sprayed some white lithium grease on the spring on the throttle cable and that fixed it, but the TB was on top of the intake instead of the front like the v8s. with that said, i havent had a problem with my 4.8

Carbon build up in the throttle bodies of all fuel injected vehicles is very common...between oil that works it's way into the induction system, hydrocarbons, EGR, etc., alot of gunk can quickly accumulate. I try to clean my tb every 12 to 15k. Our GENIII motors seem to have an even worse case of this, as excessive oil works it's way into the induction system via the PCV system. An oil catch can will help, but you'll still need to perform routine maintenance on your throttle body at the intervals I mentioned above

Since i got my longtubes and took all the egr stuff off, my tb is spotless. I pulled the intake today to check it. I think the egr is 99% of it.

Thanks for the help... when I get my new tune, I was going to have the EGR taken out anyways.
