A Deep Skirted aluminum block. Deep skirt, meaning the lower portion of the block extends below the center line of the crank shaft.
LS6 Heads.
Flat top pistons with teflon coated skirts and floating wrist pins. The flat top makes for more compression.
Higher flowing Cats.
All the right stuff is there but GM has her de-tuned for fuel mileage.

The only problem on mine was the cat pipe to muffler pipe connection. It leaked between the flanges on the bottom. Took it in and they fixed it. Got a Corsa Touring on now.
It shifts faster and firmer than previous years, you agree?
If you would, look at your glove box RPO code sticker and tell us if you have the M30 or M32?
I haven't had to really get on the brakes yet, but under normal driving, they feel like they have a little less fade. The transmission is definitely improved over my 04 crew. In my 04, the 1-2 shift used to be quite hard, whereas this one seems to glide into gear- it is almost Buick like smooth. I also noticed that they finally quieted down the A/C compressor.
According to the RPO, its an M30.

how do you like the 3.42's? what gears did you have before? what do you like better?
I had the 3.42's in my 04, and didn't really like them at low speed -it seemed to struggle off the line. I was debating about getting the 4.10's in my new truck since they are only a ~$65 option, but I didn't want to kill my fuel economy, so I wnet with the 3.42 and hoped that the new motor and slightly lighter weight would make a difference. So far I have been pleased with the decision as the H.O. feels quite a bit stronger than the quoted 15 hp gain.
