Default bold on performance gains

I got a 2000 5.3 rcsb just with a tb spacer right now. Im getting a hypertech III, kn cold air, granetelli maf, and a gibson cat back. What kind of numbers at the wheels should i expect? Im guessing somewhere between 30-40? I would get a custom tune, but all these parts are in a package for $550, and i couldnt pass it up. any help or suggestions would be appreciated thanks

I was looking at the LS1Tech truck section for months before I bought the truck. Then I had a couple months of research on what to buy for it before I got home the truck. Lots of reading and the search button pays off huge dividends.

TB spacer not much of a gain their, just sets the TB out more.
hypertech III will feel a difference, but a real performance tune will give the WOW effect.
kn cold air, well give some performance.
granetelli maf, no real gains, the stock works just as good.

may I suggest doing the TB by pass on the coolant hose, cost a few bucks, mod the stock air box and put in a 40.00 K&N filter for it. a good set of headers with a duel exhaust, and then a custom tune so you can go WOW, then your next question will be what can i do next,
then we can say WELCOME TOO IT'S NEVER ENOUGH, you got the fever.

Wow where to start.

Lets start with the TB spacer. Dynos have shown that a spacer can LOSE power due to heat retention. Its better suited as a paper weight.

Granetelli MAF 'tricks' the PCM and functions kinda like a chip and that is where is gains its power. However it does not play well with any other modifications and is not worth the cost because for less money you can get things that do much more. The Granetelli MAF and the HPT together can cause knock. And its pointless to run both of them because you can LOSE power.

Which brings me to the Hypertech. Its a good little unit. I have one and it has served me well. However when I got mine it was that or Superchips. A custom tune will do more for about the same money. So will Predator for a bit more money then there is tuning software but if you dont know what you are doing you can really hurt things.

A Gibson cat back is on the lower end of cat backs but it will do the job. DO NOT get shorty headers.

On the whole I would say send the kit back. We (as in this forum) can suggest a few mods that will make more power then that kit for less money.

If you put this crap on and think you feel a gain because you hear more engine noise, you will be feeling what is called a placebo effect.Listen to the guys here and send it all back.

Nelson tune true dual exhaust get the k&n fipk and come out with 30 more hp yes it will cost more money but you will be much happier with the gains. Its only money right and for that same reason thats why there isnt alot of mods in my sig. Watch out for the damn transmissions they're a b****.
