When I first got my Yank SS3800, it stalled to about 3900 and shift extension was about 4900. Since then, I've added about 70 flywheel hp. It's now stalling to about 4300, and shift extension is about 5300.
Logging TCC slip speed shows slip through the converter at 400-1100rpm in second gear, and 700-1600 in third gear. The highest slip is at about 5400rpm in both gears. It looks like a big spike slowly tapering in my logs. (the TCC is unlocked the whole time BTW)
My question is, when do you know you're blowing through a converter? Are there any hard numbers to go by?
Anyone ever blown through a converter before?

It seems like 3rd gear is really stretching the converter out now that I'm putting down a little more power. I was hoping someone would have some logs to compare to.
How does your converter compare to your old TT3000 in feel?

my old converter with the 6.0, whipple and 75shot would stall to somthing like 4500rpm, i dont remember the shift extention numbers. it still drove around nice at part throttle.
the converter i have now is very tight, about 2800 is as high as it will stall, i lock it up soon after the 1-2shift. locking it up got me about 2 mph.
i am prety sure a tighter stall would slow you down a little but if you dont like how it drives then who cares. it has to be fun to drive.
