I recently upgraded to a 145 amp alternator and got a Duralast belt for 145 amp applications. I tried to put my factory belt on to make sure I needed the new size and it was way to small. I put the 145 amp application on and it just barely fit, perfect size. I checked the tension and everything was nice and tight. Now, every time I am full throttle and go into the 1-2 shift or the 2-3 shift I can hear the belt squeal pretty badly. It only does this at full throttle on the shifts. Is this just because of the crappy belt? Should I get a Gatorback belt or another better quality belt or is there a belt dressing that I can put on the Duralast to keep it from slipping?

What's wrong with using a standard AcDelco belt?
Of course, I don't think I have even heard a serpentine belt ever squeak before. Not saying that it doesn't happen, just that I've never seen it (or heard it).

They didn't have the AC Delco at the dealership. I went to Auto Zone and got the Duralast so I could go ahead and install the alternator. It never squeaked like that until the first time I got on it after installing the alternator. I have heard one squeak before on a friend's older Chevy from it slipping on the pulleys when he reved it and it sounds exactly like mine. The only difference is his does it everytime he hits the gas and mine only happens on really hard shifts.

When I installed my shift kit and 200 amp alt I started getting a belt squeal/slip at the 1-2 shift. I pretty much got rid of the squeal by using a dayco polycog belt. It was getting pretty annoying.

I have a squeel also at the 1-2 when on it hard. I am not sure if it's coming from the belt or trans. bands. I only have 8500 miles on the truck but obviously i am shifting at higher than stock rpm's.

i have a larger alternator and a duralast belt... i cant really hear anything but motor and my tires from getting sideways on the 1-2 shift.. so idk if there is a squeek or not... does it do it under light throttle or just when your wot in the 1-2?
