Get the other **** done first. You will need atleast a 3400 stall, get some pacesetters, get some heads to up the CR then go big. I would bet my paycheck it will run like *** in heavy truck like yours without the right mods. When does your truck start pulling right now? 3600? 3800? I know when I had my 5.3 with the 222/224 it wouldnt start pulling good till about 3600 Im guessing yours is close to that. With that 13.4 camaro beating you spraying a 100 shot that should tell you right there your **** isnt running right. Get oyur problems worked out first before you start going bigger. Plain and simple you dont have the mods to support a 230* cam in 325 cubes. My buddy closet redneck is going to be running a 232/234 in his 5.3 but he is also going to be running a set of milled DART heads for a 10.2:1CR, 3800 stall, 4.56 gears, LS6 intake and ALL the supporting mods not juyst a few like you have. Why are you wanting shift your poewrband even higher when you cant take advantage of it with the truck intake it dies at 5800 and with the size cam you are tlaking about you are going to be shifting at like 7K. You have to walk before you can run grasshopper.

i am trying to get a 402 after i get rid of all this other stuff, and i am only going to put a 220/222 585/590 lift with a 114+4.
not to be an *** but i know right now if i was to get the truck dyno right and go run it,it would be close to the 11.s and i know it would go 11.s on the spray.
everyone has their own out look on what to do with these trucks really their is no wrong way to build just might have set ups that work better than others.
i have been through alot with my truck and a few others.when i worked @ the dealer ship we had 9 of racing trucks and all of us had different set ups and some ran faster than other.
i tell every one before doing a cam swap do reach to see what everyone is running and what cam they have and how far do u planing to go with your build.
i do know that with a big cam like u r looking at u will loose bottom end but u will be able to spray it and gain some of what u will loose back.
i put the 224/224 in goashawks truck it run great but on the motor you feel the the trucks stars pulling and he has a 3200 stall and u still can feel the power band.he ran a 13.5 on motor and 12.6 with 150 shot and spun out of the hole, but i am woundering if he is looseing so much than with the spray it is shocking the tires to much don't know but just do some reach.

My buddy is running a 226/226 .576/.576 114lsa in his 99 Ext Cab 5.3L and that truck runs hard. The 3K converter seems to be a perfect match for the cam choice, and once he has some 3.90 or 4.10 gears in there it should really move. The truck went 13.90 @ 99mph on bald *** street tires with barely any tuning.

Luck of the draw some trucks run really hard others dont. Just like the TBSSs some stock run a high 13 some run 14.2s with a tune and intake. IMO anything bigger will not run well unless he has a freak truck like what 02 is talking about. I generally agree with what litreddevil is saying. I figured it was the case with Goshawks truck turning the times it is N/A. Using spray to make up for poor cam choice is dumb though. Just think how well it would run with the right cam AND spray. IMO a 222/224 with a 3200-3400 stall in an ecsb 2 or 4wd is the best matched combo for 99% of the trucks out there. If I ever get another 5.3 in my truck it will have a 220 or 222/224 they just flat out perform and arent overkill. All my opinion since I have been there and done that so-to-speak.
