A tonneau cover is supposed to help you gain some gas mileage.

Maybe with a hard cover. I lost mileage with a soft cover. After the wait4me tune I am averaging up to 23hwy and an overall of 19.5 with 50/50 driving of 20mi a day.

make sure your air filter is clean. make sure your tire pressure is right. turn ac off when its not absolutely necessary. do not let the rpm's go over 2ooo(about 1900 works perfect for me). keep the cruise control on as much as possible.

Out of curiosity how does a soft cover make you lose MPG but a hard cover doesn't?

In my opinion If the soft cover is pulled tight it's just as effective as a hard cover, atleast that's what logic would lead me to believe. I've gained MPG with my soft cover. But only when I'm doing highway driving have I noticed a good difference.

I had an Extang soft cover that look like this driving ^^^ I would imagine that was the problem. Only one I have ever owned so thats my ground to stand on. If it is sucking down, it has to be causing drag, or I could be totally wrong. Hope this helps. Now back to my office .

thanks guys, 1funz71 you are getting 23 hwy ?!?! wow how the hell do you do that. i wonder if my fuel is turned up on the diablosport so im not getting as good gas mileage as i should. well anymore suggestions are welcome. also i cant buy a hard cover just for this trip cuz i dont have the money right now but maybe in the future. what about letting the tailgate down would that do the same function ? thanks Justin
