Default best way to get more

What would be the best and cheapest way to gain a solid 50lbs of Torque out of a 2005 5.3. I have a cat back and a K/N drop in on the truck now and need a little more for towing. I would like to stay away from a tune if i can but if I must I will.

Thanks

Dave

Any particular reason you are wanting to stay away from a tune? Nothing will give you more towing power than a supercharger...

Default tune...

honestly man, the best way that i know of, that wont dent ur pocket as hard, would be a tune. A good tuner can set everything up for you, where your power is made down low, and get the best results for the mods you have.

I dont do alot of towing, i carry a 4 wheeler, and ive carried a 1500 pound detroit engine, wasnt the smartest idea, but as far as that goes, ive never had power issues in any of it, but on the axle, and towing, are two different situations i know.

but like states above, a supercharger would help u tow anything honestly!!

just my .02

A tune will be your best bang for the buck but you won't gain a solid 50ftlb from it. Average is usually around 15-30hp/tq.

Even if you mod enough to get you the 50ftlb increase, you're gonna need to get a tune at that point. A nice cam and a tune would get you close, but you can't do the cam without needing some kind of computer "tune". Vinci has some nice cams that work well with their handheld tuner, that are just for trucks. Check them out, they can be a nice package. I agree, a supercharger is where it's at, but it's much more money, and still requires computer "tuning".

did anyone else notice that wonderful alliteration, Be your Best Bang for thr Buck...just made me laugh but yea, if you want a solid 50rwtq increase, the only way to do that without a tune would be get a bigger engine.

dear lord no on the e fans. I have a hard time keeping my truck within a reasonable temp with stock e fans. Keep the clutch fan if you tow, there's a reason real trucks still have them. As for torque, how about a cam, long tubes and a mild tune? That should get you over 50 ft lbs of toque one would believe.

Just go for the supercharger if you're towing a lot. I can not beleive the low end torque i'm making!
Last night i crossed a mountain grade highway at 68mph in TC lock the whole way!
