best shorty headers?
#22
I had Gibson shorties and now have StainlessWorks LT's and I can tell you that the perfomance difference alone is worth the long tubes, especially something like the SW's or DynaTechs that you can get a catted y-pipe for to make it a direct bolt in with no fabrication needed (if emissions are a concern).
If emissions won't allow you to run LT's, and you just want to get shorties because you like the way they look, and someone's giving them to you for next to free, then go for it. Otherwise I recommend going for the long tubes, you'll be much happier in the end...just my .02

Dynas are about $1300 w/ cats. Prolly around $990 w/o, as the SW's run near same price, IIRC. If not going w/ these 2, everyone on here digs their Pacesetters.

Long tubes are much better for high RPM HP and Short tube headers are better for low end torque and HP so it really depends on what you use your truck for..I dyno'd my 1997 Jeep Wrangler with a 5.3L swap before and after putting JBA short tube headers and i gained 28 ft. lbs of torque and 10HP
