I dont know much at all about cams, but I thought with the 117 lsa it wouldn't have much overlap - or is it because of "wide split" of the durations?

I called allen up and asked him about a cam for my whipplechargered sierra. He said to try to stay under 220dur and a high lift. I went with the lunati 558/558 lift 221/221 dur cam and the grind is Lun55004. I could tell a big diffence in this cam. My 1/4 mile runs went from 13.7 99mph to 13.4 103mph.

2002 GMC sierra 3.73, whipple, lunati cam, and soon to come built 5.7 ls1 with low compression diamond pistions 8.8/1 and 4l80e

Everything has been pretty well covered so far.

With a blower cam, you generally want to keep the overlap low - the easiest way to do that is keep the LSA numbers higher. Duration and valve timing also play as much of a part in it.

When you have more overlap, you have more of a chance of some of your intake charge getting 'blown' out the exhaust before the exhaust valve closes. Bad for fuel economy, emissions, and power.

Or if you are shooting after the proper ve's for your setup and they require a tight lsa to be used. You can run less duration.

A blower is cramming more air in the chamber more efficiently. So more duration isn't really needed like it might be for a cam-only setup.
