Default Benefit from going from 01 to 05 PCM?

I am getting a PCM with the 05 engine I just bought - is there any benefit for me to go from an 01 to an 05 PCM? It would require burning up another license on EFILive, and I'm wondering if there would be much benefit, if any.

What are the differences between the two years?

Don't know if you can. The 01 pcm's have a 512k flash chip and the 03+ have 1024k flash chip. I know the os's are way different too with the flex fuel stuff. You might ask over on the EFILive board, I'd stick with the 01 PCM.

I am pretty sure that you can't do that. I asked a tech friend of mine that works at a GMC dealership and he told me that it was not possible. I could be wrong though

i would think that you would have to use the 05 cause of the fly by wire crap. meaning the electronic throttle stuff. i know there was drastic changes between those years.
