Default BCM problem!!

hi guys!!!

i have a problem with my bcm, and my cluster was throwing all brake light and abs and stability service light up on. and all other light on and off. i have extended warranty on my denali and i went to get warranty on it and they denied warranty cuz i had alram system on my car. which i really dont understand. because i'm mecp cetified and i did my wiring myself and i did not tap into wires that are not suppose to. i had my alram on for long time never had a problem. and after thunderstorm on last week my cluster lights started act funny.

at worst scenario i going to change bcm by myself. and my question is as far as bcm replacement is it hard?? or can i just disconnect the sensors and swap em and it will be ok?

Are you suggesting your denali got hit by lightning?

Do you know for sure that the BCM is the problem? If so, it should be easy to physically replace, if it's in the same spot as my 99 (on the driver's side under the steering column). Not sure if anything will need to be flashed into it though (with a TechII)...such as wireless door locks or whatever.

yes it definately bcm failure, because i took it down to my mechanics shop. and rechecked it cuz i couldn't believe what dealer was say. and my mechanic is well known GM performance guy.(tune time performance).
we hook it up to scan and basically i had all my bcm codes up. including sercurity and antitheft. i mean he told me i have so many codes poping up some of those he never even seen.

bcm is main concern at this time now cuz other then that i have no problem.

Chevracer83 can get the part #

By law they can only deny your warranty if they determine that your aftermarket item caused the failure. I'd go over their heads.
If you can prove that the failed bcm was not a result of faulty Alarm install then they have to honor the warranty.

Go to this link and it has some info for you. hopefully it helps you get the warranty work you deserve.

"Most vehicle owners are not aware they are protected by federal law: the Magnuson-Moss Warranty – Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act of 1975. Under the Magnuson-Moss Act, aftermarket equipment which improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer’s original warranty, unless the warranty clearly and conspicuously states that aftermarket equipment voids the warranty. Most states have warranty statutes, as well. Which provide further protections for vehicle owners.

In other words, that means a dealer can’t wiggle out of his legal warranty obligation merely because you install aftermarket equipment. To find out if any aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle’s warranty, check the owner’s manual. It is likely the language you are looking for appears under a heading such as “What Is Not Covered” Although the language seems negative, remember your vehicle manufacturer is simply saying he does not cover the aftermarket products themselves. He is not saying that the products would void the vehicle warranty."

With that being said, I also wouldn't tell them it was struck by lightning. I don't think the warranty covers acts of nature.
