Default Bad plug wires?

On the way home from work last week, the truck ran like crap. It had rained all day & was still raining. At a steady throttle, it ran okay, but if I gave it a little gas, it would sputter & jerk. Going wide open, it seemed to run normal. It hasn't really happened again, even though it has rained since then.

Last night, from about 50mph, I kicked it down, & while accelerating, I heard 'pops', sounded like from the exhaust under the truck.

I've tried spraying water on the wires while it was running, but didn't notice anything. I've ordered new MSD wires hoping this will fix it.

Any clue what might be wrong?
