Default Bad news.....sold the TNT kit

Well I sold the TNT kit and the electric fans on Friday and installed them on the guys(a friends) truck Friday afternoon. Everything was hooked up IDENTICAL to how it was on my truck for about 4 months. He was having some problem getting it to work correctly and I had mentioned getting it a-tapped to see what was going on.
Well, this morning I got a call from him saying the truck is gone... After talking to him more and then going to the yard...The truck is very well gone......it caught on fire last night cruising down 290....everything but the bed is burnt to bare metal...Nothing left in the interior or anything.

When I finsihed installiung the kit I checked multiple times over the night and looked for any leaks and so on. Everything was dry and all seemed great. But we thought the microswitch for his WOT was going out. Now I have someone that used to be a close friend trying to call me out saying I tried to screw this guy over on purpose and it was all my fault. If he was someone that actually knew what he was talking about and not making assumptions everything would be fine...But considering how things are....he is speaking from his @$$. Good thing though is that the guy that I sold the kit to realizes it could have been anything and not really the kit. Could have just been the timing of things.... He also was there next to me the entire time and he saw first hand that it came off and went onto his truck the same way. I am puzzled as to why this could have happened. He was not spraying the truck when it caught on fire and their were not any fuel leaks where the fuel line goes into the fuel rail crossover...

I dunno I just had to vent a little....I could always do what someone else is doing and blame things on him.....but then again that would be going to his level.....however he was the last one to mess with the ground wire for the silonoids and there were no problems after the last time I touched anythingon the truck.

Damn, Ive never heard of even just some electrical fire totally burning someone's truck to the ground. That really sucks. Hope the guy had good insurance though. Hope things turn out okay with your buddy <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

Out of curiosity was this guys truck white? I saw a white one comming off of I-10 going around 610 north to 290 and once we where on 290 I passed him. Normally I would not have noticed anything like this except he was leaking fuel all over my freshly waxed truck. I tried to get his attention, but he was driving like an *** and wasn't paying any attention.

Wow, that sucks. I'd guess the only reason it was fully burnt to the ground was because he didn't have a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.

When I had a dodge dakota I was stopped at a light. A lady next to me pointed to my wheel well and liped "fire". I pulled over and thank god I had an extinguisher. There was an engine fire and I was able to put it out. Since then I'm a firm believer in extinquishers, saved my truck for sure.

The truck was a black single cab Chevy...

Brook- yeah, this one beats that story by far.

We have a few ideas about what might have caused it but we cannot prove anything. The more I ask around about it the more I am hearing about this being a common problem with some of these trucks. I never heard about it up until now though... However, his insurance has already agreed to total it out and they are now waiting on GM since they want to investigate the reason for the fire.
