Default Bad *** '05 Performance

The new '05 Silverado's have electric fans on them, not the noisy clutch fans!! I saw this at work today when a co-worker was prepping a new '05. I nearly creamed my pants because this means that we may be able to install a GM electric fan setup on our silverado's. I am going to do some measurments on the new truck and my '00 tommorrow and see if I can make it work. I'll get back with you guys to let you know how it's looking. I am fortunate enough to be able to get a fan kit for free through work, but the rest of you are on your own for the GM fan set-up.

You're not a GM rep are you? I'd hate to say where I work and have you crack my head in week!

Just got done measuring it out- The core support height is the same so it looks like it would bolt in just fine. however, the new trucks use a radiator about 40" long as opposed to a 34" in the previous models. This may or may not be a problem. As long as it physically fits in there, it should still flow more than enough to get the job done. I don't think a little overlap on the edges should be a problem.

i think it will take a diff. radiator......anyone confirm this? I think the fans use the holes that the smaller radiator would be mounted in.

I work at Michael Chevrolet in Chesterfield, MI. Drive tech/light line in training. Does anyone have any ideas to get the stock PCM to control the fans if the old style trucks are not equipped with electrics?? Wondering if it is possible to re-flash or add option to allow PCM to control fans after install, or we may have to use an aftermarket thermostatic controller to turn them on and off. All else fails, hard-wire!
